Holding that the murder was not a “premediated and planned act” Bombay High Court has quashed the life imprisonment sentenced to a Maharashtra-based doctor. Keeping the view in fact doctor has already served 14 years in jail for allegedly murdering his pharmacist wife, the HC modified the order of the Session Court and acquitted the doctor from charges of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and held him liable for culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 304 of IPC by reducing his imprisonment to 10 years.
